Will Abbott currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of InnovaCare Health, where he oversees all aspects of business operations, ensuring performance reliability, growth, and scalability across diverse markets.  With over 20 years of operational and executive experience in multi-site healthcare providers, his expertise in healthcare focuses on strategy, integration and operations.

Before joining InnovaCare Health, Will served as the COO for San Francisco-based Carbon Health, where he played a pivotal role in leading operations to scale the business from 7 to 125 clinics across 13 states. His strategic vision and operational prowess were instrumental in driving Carbon Health’s expansion and success. Prior to his role at Carbon Health, Will served as the COO of a pioneering women’s telehealth startup, where he demonstrated his ability to navigate emerging healthcare landscapes and drive innovation. His tenure at CVS Caremark, spanning 12 years, saw him rise through the ranks to lead the national pharmacy operations team. As the COO of CVS Caremark’s Long-term Care division, overseeing a $4.5 billion pharmacy business unit, Will showcased his exceptional leadership acumen and strategic foresight.

Will’s educational background includes a degree from Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering, providing him with a solid foundation in analytical thinking and problem-solving. He further augmented his skills by obtaining an MBA from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, equipping him with the strategic mindset and business acumen necessary to excel in executive leadership roles.

Douglas Malton currently serves on the Board of Directors and is the Chief Financial Officer for InnovaCare Health where he is responsible for strategic finance, corporate control, and finance systems and transformation.  Doug brings expertise to the organization working on multi-site healthcare space, skilled in acquisition due diligence, budgeting, corporate finance and strategic planning.

From 2012 to 2021, Doug served as CFO of MMM Healthcare, Puerto Rico’s largest and oldest Medicare Advantage (MA) plan. Under InnovaCare Health leadership, the plan grew to $3.5 billion in revenue and became the ninth-largest MA plan in the country.  Prior his role at MMM Healthcare, he served in a number of senior management roles at Aveta, Inc., from the company’s founding in 2004, including Director and VP of Business Development, VP of Finance and as CFO until its sale in 2012, which included direct responsibility for NAMM.  Prior to serving at Aveta, Malton spent more than seven years as an investment banker with Citigroup and Oppenheimer where he concentrated on debt and equity capital markets and mergers and acquisitions.

Doug received his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of New Hampshire.  Upon completion of his bachelor’s degree, he acquired his Master of Science degree in Genetics from the University of Connecticut.

Teresa Jordan currently serves as the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel at InnovaCare Health. In this pivotal role, she drives the strategic direction for all legal, compliance, and regulatory functions, leveraging her deep expertise in healthcare statutory and regulatory law. Her innovative approach enables her to craft compliant, practical solutions that not only enhance operational efficiency but also elevate customer satisfaction.  Teresa Jordan’s blend of legal acumen, strategic vision, and community dedication makes her a formidable leader and a true asset to InnovaCare Health and the broader healthcare industry.

Teresa’s impressive career is marked by notable achievements and leadership roles. At Honest Medical Group in Nashville, TN, she was the General Counsel, managing all legal functions for the company and its subsidiaries, including complex joint ventures. Her tenure at Cigna as SVP and Associate Chief Counsel saw her spearheading customer-focused transformational healthcare systems. There, she led the development of legally compliant strategies to boost operational performance and the design and negotiation of value-based initiatives.

As SVP and General Counsel of Operations for HealthSpring, Teresa managed mergers and acquisitions of multiple health plans and CMS novations, overseeing the legal requirements for a multi-state healthcare delivery company. Her ability to collaborate with executives to implement strategic plans and deliver effective legal solutions has been a hallmark of her esteemed career.

Teresa’s academic background is equally impressive, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and History from the University of Texas and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the South Texas College of Law in Houston.

Outside of her professional achievements, Teresa is a dedicated community servant. She actively participates in organizations like the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, Epilepsy Foundation of Texas, Rancher’s Ride, Salt Grass Trail Ride, and Ladies of Texas Tradition. Her leadership in these organizations highlights her commitment to preserving western heritage and supporting charitable causes.

Rupesh Nigam, MD, MBA, FACP joined InnovaCare Health as Chief Medical Officer in March 2023. As a  regional leader in integrated and value-based healthcare services, InnovaCare Health is transforming care delivery by combining physician-led care models with cutting edge technology and a focus on personalized, culturally competent care. Through this model, providers are empowered to succeed and thrive in some of healthcare’s most challenging environments.

Dr. Nigam is an experienced physician executive with extensive value-based care background and hands-on clinical and research experience spanning 25+ years. After obtaining his medical degree from the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, India, Dr. Nigam served as a molecular biology clinical researcher at Baylor College of Medicine and MD Anderson Cancer Center before completing his residency training at University of Texas Health Sciences Center in 2011.

Following his research experience, Dr. Nigam began as a hospital-based internal medicine hospitalist for the prestigious Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, an 800-provider, multispecialty group practice with over 40  clinic locations providing value-based care to patients in the greater Houston area.

Following 4½ years in the hospitalist role, he was appointed Medical Director, Hospital Services at Kelsey-Seybold in 2016. As Medical Director, he maintained communications and liaison with the C-suites of four major hospital systems encompassing 22 major Houston-area hospitals relative to management of the care of Kelsey-Seybold patients admitted to these hospitals.

Demonstrating his abilities as a thought leader and innovator of processes, particularly in the area of service line development, Dr. Nigam expanded the Medical Director role beyond Hospital Services to include Palliative Care, Population Health, and Behavioral Health service lines. Dr. Nigam has continued to demonstrate business acumen, strategic planning ability, and subject-matter-expert understanding of value-based care delivery to develop programs that fill care-need gaps in the community while producing savings for the health plan.

In her role as Chief Strategy Officer at InnovaCare Health, Marie “Kat” Alvarez has been instrumental in creating strategic partnerships that enhance organizational value and expand service offerings. Her deep understanding of the regulatory landscape, coupled with her ability to anticipate market trends, allows her to craft opportunities that are both innovative and sustainable, ultimately improving patient care and operational efficiency.  Kat has a remarkable talent for bringing diverse stakeholders together to form successful partnerships. Her extensive experience in the healthcare sector is marked by her ability to align the interests of providers, payers, investors, and community partners, fostering collaborative environments that drive mutually beneficial outcomes. Kat’s overarching mission is to drive better health outcomes and create efficiencies within the healthcare industry.

Immediately preceding  InnovaCare Health for the last several years, Kat served as CEO of Katalyst Health.  Kat advised value-based providers, family offices and private equity firms, facilitating complex transactions that optimized portfolio performance and accelerated growth. Her strategic insights and negotiation skills were pivotal in structuring deals that aligned with both investor objectives and healthcare delivery goals.

As Chief Operating Officer at Cano Health and IMC Health, Kat successfully managed large-scale operations across multiple geographies, overseeing the integration of comprehensive primary care, dental, and wellness services. Her leadership in these roles involved negotiating and securing agreements with multiple health plans, ensuring seamless collaboration and high-quality care for one hundred thousand plus lives under management, thereby driving significant improvements in health outcomes and operational efficiencies- creating a scaled blueprint for growth.

At CHP of Florida, Kat led national growth initiatives focused on health plan and provider-based risk arrangements, particularly in emerging markets. Her ability to forge strategic partnerships and drive growth was evident in the successful expansion of CHP’s operational footprint, contributing to better health outcomes and more efficient service delivery.

One of Kat’s most notable achievements was her role in the acquisition of WellMed Medical Management by Optum. As Vice President of Florida MSO Operations, she managed full-risk memberships and played a crucial role in positioning WellMed for acquisition. This successful transaction set her on the path to working with other investor led groups, further demonstrating her capability to navigate complex deals and drive value creation, all in pursuit of better healthcare outcomes and increased efficiency.

Kat holds an MBA from the H. Wayne Huizenga school of Business at Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida International University. Her post graduate studies include Lean Six Sigma with certification confirmed from Villanova University, and from Tulane University School of Law- Corporate Governance Certification. She is a Florida boarded RN.

Dr. Richard Shinto serves as President and CEO of InnovaCare Health. Dr. Shinto has more than 30 years of clinical and operational healthcare experience in managed care, with a proven track record of innovative, physician-led care models that improve quality, patient satisfaction, and financial performance.

From 2008 until its sale in 2012, he served as President and CEO of Aveta, Inc. Dr. Shinto’s extensive experience spans across his roles as CEO of NAMM California, COO and CMO for Medical Pathways Management Company, Corporate Vice President of Medical Management for MedPartners and CMO for Cal Optima Health Plan.

From 2012 to 2021, Dr. Shinto also served as President and CEO of MMM Healthcare, Puerto Rico’s largest and oldest Medicare Advantage (MA) plan. Under InnovaCare leadership, MMM grew to become the ninth-largest MA plan in the country, serving more than 275,000 MA members and 314,000 Medicaid members. The plan received and maintained Puerto Rico’s first ever 4.5-star quality rating from CMS. In 2021, MMM was purchased by Anthem Inc.

Dr. Shinto serves on many industry and charitable boards, including AHIP (formerly America’s Health Insurance Plans), America’s Physician Groups, and the Financial Solvency Standards Board for California Dept. of Managed Care.

Dr. Shinto received his Bachelor of Science from the University of California at Irvine, his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and his M.B.A. from the University of Redlands.

Darren M. Black is a Managing Director with Summit Partners. Darren’s current board directorships include Abode Healthcare, Vertava Health, InnovaCare Health, LifeStance Health, Paradigm Outcomes, PharmScript, Sound Physicians, Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care and U.S. Renal Care.

Prior to Summit, Darren was a Managing Partner with SV Life Sciences, where he focused on healthcare services, healthcare information technology and pharmaceutical services. Prior to SV Life Sciences, Darren was Cofounder and President of two companies—ClinCare and PharmaStar. Previously, he was a healthcare consultant for Accenture.

Darren holds an AB in government from Harvard College and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Darren serves on the boards of directors for Combined Jewish Philanthropies and Friends of the IDF.

Casey Leonetti

Operating Partner

Bain Capital Private Equity, LP

Experience

Ms. Leonetti joined Bain Capital Private Equity in 2019. She is an Operating Partner and a member of the Portfolio Group for North America Private Equity. Ms. Leonetti focuses on investments in the healthcare sector.

Prior to joining Bain Capital, Ms. Leonetti was a Senior Vice President at CVS Health, where she held several roles over a five-year period, including Operations, Product Development, and Process Automation. Prior to joining CVS Health, Ms. Leonetti was a Principal at The Boston Consulting Group, where she focused in the healthcare and consumer sectors.

Education

Ms. Leonetti has a Ph.D. in mathematics from Vanderbilt University and a B.A. from Rice University.

Mr. Kaplan joined Bain Capital Private Equity in 2009. He is a Managing Director in the Healthcare Vertical and a member of the North American Private Equity team. He also serves as a member of the firm’s Global Private Equity training program and the recruiting team.

Prior to joining Bain Capital, Mr. Kaplan was an investment banker with Goldman Sachs. He also co-founded EngagedHealth, LLC, a post-hospitalization service for chronically ill, low- income patients aiming to improve outcomes, reduce readmissions, and save costs. This experience has been fundamental to informing his perspective on the value delivered to patients and the broader healthcare system through higher quality, lower cost care models.

Education

Mr. Kaplan received an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar. As an undergraduate, he attended The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as Class President for four years, and graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Economics.

Mr. Gordon joined Bain Capital Private Equity in 1997. He is a Managing Director, Co-Head of Bain Capital’s North America Private Equity business and Global Head of the Healthcare Vertical.

Since joining the firm, Mr. Gordon has been actively involved in and served on the Board of Directors for a wide spectrum of prominent healthcare companies in which Bain Capital has made investments.

Education

Mr. Gordon received an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College graduating magna cum laude and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar.

Mr. Klomp is a senior advisor to PointClickCare, which he joined when it acquired Collective Medical, where he served as CEO, in late 2020. He sits on the boards of Nomi Health, Maven Clinic, InnovaCare Health, and Flock Health, and serves as a member of the Utah Digital Health Services Commission. He was named 2018 CEO of the Year by Utah Business Magazine and EY’s 2018 Entrepreneur of the Year for the Utah region. Previously, Chris was a VP in Bain Capital’s North American Private Equity group in Boston and was also previously with Bain & Company in Dallas and Johannesburg.

Chris holds a B.A. with honors in Economics and English from Brigham Young University (2004) and an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business (2011), from which he graduated as an Arjay Miller Scholar. He lives with his ridiculously awesome wife and four children in Salt Lake City, UT where, together, they enjoy all things family, community, and outdoors.
